Your Athlete Was Removed For a Possible Concussion

Now What?


1. Pay careful attention to his/her symptoms, especially for the first 24 – 48 hours.

2. Emergency Signs and Symptoms: When to seek immediate medical care

  • One pupil larger than the other.

  • Drowsiness or inability to wake up.

  • A headache that gets worse and does not go away.

  • Slurred speech.

  • Weakness, numbness, or decreased coordination in arms and legs.

  • Neck pain.

  • Repeated vomiting or nausea, convulsions or seizures (shaking or twitching).

  • Unusual behavior, increased confusion, restlessness, or agitation.

  • Slurred speech.

  • Increased confusion.

  • Unable to recognize people or places.

  • Less responsiveness than usual.

  • Will not stop crying and cannot be consoled.

  • Loss of consciousness (passed out/knocked out). Even a brief loss of consciousness should be taken seriously.

3. In the case of a non-emergency, complete the Concussion Symptom Checklist. Click here.

A Concussion (Removed From Play) report is now displayed your Athlete's Profile.

Your Athlete's Roster entry has been updated to reflect Removed From Play.

Your Athlete's Profile has been updated to begin the Return to Play process.

Your organization requires that you: 

  • Bring your athlete to the doctor to get a "medically cleared to play" note 

  • Provide your consent to return your athlete to play.


  • Doctor's Name

  • Medically Cleared Date

  • Take a picture of the note

  • Tap the Consent Box

Tap Next

  • Roster updated to Medically Cleared with the date.

  • Another text notification sent to parents, coach(es), administrator.

  • On the Medically Cleared date the organization administrator has authorization to make final Return To Play approval.


  • He/she will send a text notification indicating your athlete has been cleared to Return to Play. 

  • Your Athlete's Profile will be updated - Remove From Play (hopefully this will not be necessary again!)

  • Roster highlight no longer be present.
